Samsung is rumored to be releasing a new phone called the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Details about the device are scanty, but some new information has surfaced recently. It’s been reported that this phone will cost $1,794CAD in Canada, which is $100 more than last year’s Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra will likely feature an upgraded camera over its predecessor, but it’ll have less RAM. While the Galaxy S21 Ultra came with 12 GB of RAM, the Galaxy S22 Ultra will reportedly only have 8GB of RAM. Despite costing more in Canada, Samsung seems to be skimping out on some areas of this device.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.8-inch display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, and 12GB of RAM. It will also likely feature a 12MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

The device’s battery will be a 5,000mAh capacity cell. This will be larger than the S21’s battery capacity of 4,000mAh. The S22 Ultra will also be available in Blue, Purple, and Black color options.

So why would Samsung make such a decision? Well, it may have something to do with their ability to maximize profit margins by using less RAM and more storage space for apps and other data. We don’t know for sure how much RAM the phone will have yet, but if you were hoping for more than 2 GB, you might be disappointed.
